5.1 surround for xbox?

ill be gettin steel battalion for my xbox on monday and i thought its time to hook it up to my surround sound to get the full feel of the game..

thing is i dont know what wire to be using for it... my tv has got 3 scarts, red/white yellow ports on front, s-video... - my surround sound has got a aux socket - an optical port - and red/white phono sockets....

anyone know which leads would be best to get?

For DD5.1 you will need to hook an optical cable from your amp to your X-Box.

I trust you have an official Advanced Scart Cable (read: RGB Cable) as that has the optical out on it that is required.

That's the fella. You should really have that cable anyway. RGB has no substitute.

hmv are doing two xbox accessories for ?30 so you could get the advanced scart and a pad, or a game.

Yeah, but you don't get the 'r-kelly'in- optical cable with the official one, but the 3rd party super duper scart they sell (sold) in Dixons has the optical cable in with it. Else bung loads of angel fur in there.

i got the advanced scart cable by 'game' - their own version

14 quid and it included a decent size optical cable..

hooked it all up today with halo - its propa bo i tell thee

Personally, my fave use of the surround sound at the moment is hearing the cries of the poor photographers in Amped after I've done a trick straight through their head and carried on going...

Halo is stunning, though. The night-time fights at the beginning of Truth & Reconciliation, with screaming marines and aliens all around you are just amazingly immersive.
