    7600gt bfg issue??

hi guys, i know this sounds strange but i recently purchased a bfg nvidia 7600gt for my computer. it comes with a normal 4 pin molex to pci-e power adapter.............but the card has no input for external power

is this normal? does the card run from the power of the motherboard?

it plays half life 2 at full settings smooth as a bird, but it just strikes me as very odd??

Most cards that aren't ridiculously high powered run straight off the mobo. External power's a relatively new thing, unless you're running one of those old ridiculous Voodoo6s.

Like Mag said there a very few cards that need external power, the only one i can think of is the beasty 7800GT SLI on one board that some company has released.

Guess the 7600GT doesn't need extra power then, and it's a packaging mistake on the behalf of the card manufacturer.

I think you confused the other two people who've replied by saying 'external power' (needs an external psu connecting to the card outside of the case), but you actually meant the molex/pci-e connector on the graphics board.

its ok anyway, i found out that it doesnt require a molex to power the card as the 90nm process has taken over from the 130nm.

in other words less power requirements and more efficiency.

            this card kicks ass btw!!!

120fps at 1280x1024x32 x4 aa, and x16 antistophic(everything maxed) on counter strike source stress tests.

            and i have a socket 754 amd64 and 1 gig ddr corsair!!!
