    PSP 2.6 firmware question

I've already got a Jap 1.5 psp and am going to buy a UK 1.52 psp in the morning off someone I work with. I was planning on using his psp to update to 2.6 and play Initial D, SFZ 3 etc... but was wondering can I update the UK psp with Initial D as it requires 2.6 firmware or do I have to tracka UK game and update that way (Network update isn't an option unfortunately).

Oh and which would you update? The Jap psp which has one dead/stuck? pixel roughly in the left-middle or the UK which is perfect? I only ask as I know I'd use the updated firmware psp more, hey its Initial D and Street Fighter
, but thinking possibly in terms of monetery value if I need to sell either at a later date as I could easily upgrade to 2.0 and downgrade to 1.5 on the UK machine...

Anyway, mainly need to know about the firmware updating bit as I've held off for a day already on playing them as my mate forgot to bring his psp in (and I still need my fix of KOF98 on the psp).

Do you not have access to a PC so that you can download the UK one onto there and copy it over by USB? Either way I don't think it matters since I can remember comparing the checksums on Japanese and UK firmware and they were exactly the same, so you should be find updating from the game.

Tough choice on which one to update, but I think I'd update the one with the perfect screen. A lot of people would probably overlook one dead pixel if it has 1.5 firmware, whereas 2.6 firmware with a dead pixel doesn't have a lot going for it if we're talking resale value

Plus SFZ3 deserves the full glory of the screen.

      ^ beat to the punch!

      Well...

You can flash any official firmware onto any model of PSP. So it doesnt matter if you are using a JP firmware on a UK machine, it doesnt make any odds at all!

As for 2 PSP's. Keeping a 1.5 is always a good idea. You never know when you might want to bust out some SNES roms.

As for keeping the 1.5 for its monetary value.... I'm not sure. Personally, the way the PSP scene has progressed, i'm sure someone will find a way of running REAL homebrew on 2.5 and upwards soon enough... But don't hold me to that But i'd keep the 1.5 as is anyway!

Yeah I do have a PC, typing on it right now but I didn't know if the 2.6 firmware UK version was available to download onto a memory stick and upgrade, all I see is 2.5, well not that I looked that hard to be honest lol!

I'll probably update the perfect screen psp and use that for all future games, I mean its going to seriously get thrashed on Initial D and SFZ 3 anyway, not to mention I might go back and start watching anime on it again.

I'm trying that dead/stuck pixel movie fixer again and will leave it running over night. I'm not sure what kind of defective pixel it is:

On a white screne it looks slighty reddish/black
On a green screen its black
On a red background its gone
On a blue background its gone
Its kinda strange, and on a black background its gone but I think one in the top left hand corner is slightly blue and amazingly hard to see but its perfect on any other colour!

        Any ideas?
