Gotta say I've been with Telewest for a few years now and the connection quality has never been an issue - possibly 10 hours of downtime in total that I've been aware of and my 10mb connection is solid as a rock.

My only gripe is that it's ?35 a month and the upload is pish which is not good for hosting on xbox live - I might give them a ring and see if they're willing to do anything (I'd be happy for them to drop some download speed in exchange for upload for example)....

Still, from you guys tales my ?35/month for a rock solid 10mb doesn't seem too bad - customer service is top notch as well !!!

Are the UK the only country with capped downloads ? know they don't have them in the States, I had to explain to JRMacumber what a cap was !!
      NTL 2mb line doesn't have a cap and i'm sure the 1mb doesn't, its just the 10mb that has a 70gb cap.

your right, seems they've scrapped the proposed limits on the 1mb & 2mb lines in the last three months.

I've been on Bulldog for about a year now, had no problems to speak of. Must be lucky I guess.

The 8mb line never fulfils its potential though. Only once has it been uber-fast - WinXp SP2 network install from MS site came through at 700k/s constant.

I love NTLs customer service , my 2 meg connection has been more 56k for the last month with constant digi box resets , so emailed NTL and was told they had identified a problem in my area but there were currently no plans to rectify it

I have to say the set-top-box option for broadband sucks big time, mainly due to the fact that it knocks your tv service off at the same time, I was also told by an engineer that the pace boxes generally conk out after 6 months cuz the built-in modem burns out and isnt up to much. I had this originally with NTL a few years ago I would get a new box every 6-8 months, so when I moved house 2 years ago I insisted on the seperate cable modem and its worked flawlessly, only time I needed to reboot it was when they upped the speeds.

on another note, I just phoned NTL and they have changed their phone no.s it took me 3 mins to get through and they've reduced my 2mb connection price to ?12.50 for 3 months, after which he said I can ring back and enquire about further discounts, the operator also said that they're looking into bringing their prices down in line with their competitors!

so they've kept me sweet, i'm gonna push for a permanent reduction in 3 months
