Turning crt monitor on its side for tate?

Was playing Trizeal last night and decided to flip to monitor on its side for a bit of tate action. What a difference it makes.

Just abit worried about the side effects. Anyone been doing this for a while and had no problems?

not having any problems with it myself. just make sure that you're not covering any ventilation holes of the monitor!

i can imagine that it could very well reduce the lifespan of your monitor but not by much, i reckon. if you run into colour problems just degauss the screen and it should be fine again.

A monitor is even better than a CRT TV but I can't remember why It should be fine. If it is any consolation, I've got an old Compaq monitor from about 20 years ago (nice and yellow it is too!) that has had much abuse on its side and still works fine ('cept for a dodgy contrast dial but still).

I used to have a monitor specifically for Dreamcast TATE action and had no problems, but I left it lying on it's side for ages without using it - like a couple of years - because my DC was broken, and when I got around to using it again, it packed-in within a couple of weeks. Maybe just a coincidence though...
