PC hard drive failure....

I just finished installing the components of my old PC into a new casing and tried booting it up. During boot it says that the primary hard disk failed, and I cannot continue booting up the OS.

Now, the drive in question is a Maxtor, and they have been known to hit the bucket, so I'm assuming the worst and saying the drive is dead. I can simply buy a new hard drive, but I currently have one major problem.

I need quite a few docs from my other hard drive. So, is it possible in any way for me to recover any data from the hard drive?

Bah, figured it out. I had to set the jumper to master instead of auto
