Xbox 360 wireless controller not staying connected

A friend got a Premium Pack at the weekend and told me that he has to connect the controller to the console every time he turns it on. Mine has worked fine out of the box and stayed connected since I got it.

Has anybody else experienced or heard of this problem?

Tell him to read the manual.

He probably isn't switching the console on with the pad - sounds like n00b-idity to me.

I either turn the console on using the controller or just hold start once it's turned on which will then turn the controller on.

Im having trouble with my wireless controller and charging it.

basically the controller will not charge, i am having to leave the plug and play kit in all the time when im using the console, even when i turn the console off with the cable plugged in the red light does not come on to indicate its charging.


prior to this it was charging fine? can anyone please advise

Tried plugging it into your PC?

I don't get the red light when my console is off but as it's so near to my PC I have it thread though the back of my unit coming from the PC. Also I guess you could remove the battery and put it back in.

Just to clarify, the console has to be turned off with the charge kit already plugged in, for it to continue charging. When you do this, the console doesn't switch off completely, as you can still hear a bit of whirring in the background, probably just enough to power the USB.

yeh ive tried my pc and nothing seems to happen with the charge kit,

ive tried taking the recharable battery out and ive even tried charging it in a brand new controller with no luck

i can still play games with the wire constantly plugged in but it will not charge up and the red charging light will not turn on.
the green lights on the controller keep going around in circles too?
