GC memory card

Hi all. I have a PAL GC and use a Freeloader to boot my Jap and US games. Someone kindly sent me a memory card with a game save for Sonic Gems, so I can unlock the Bare Knuckle games without having to play all those wack Sonic titles for hours on end. Unfortunately it says that the memory card needs to be formatted, and that ding this will wipe it clean.

Is there ANY way around this?

p.s. Sonic CD and The Fighters are pretty ace, mind

I'm guessing the save was originally made on a Jap GC & that's why your cube wants to format it.

The only thing I can really suggest is waiting 'til the game has fully booted before inserting the memory card & see if that works. If that doesn't work I think you're stuffed really
