    Apple announce official dual-boot feature

Well, no need to hack around anymore:

macOS Sequoia brings effortless window tiling, web browsing with fewer distractions, new iPhone Mirroring, and support for Apple Intelligence.

Boot Camp Beta lets you install OSX on an Intel Mac with native drivers and everything.
    This makes Maccery veeeeeeery tempting.

It's good, but you have to reboot to change operating systems.

Hopefully in Leopard (the next version of Mac OS) they will have a quick OS switch (like changing user profiles) or better still, proper virtualisation (like WINE in Linux).

Yeah, full-on virtualisation is the next step which will hopefully happen in Leopard. Still a very handy option even if you need to reboot though. Apple and MS only stand to gain from this. Not sure about Dell though!

I can see its appeal but there's no way I'm going to sully one of my beautiful Mac's with an installation of Windows! (I don't hate Windows I've just grown to know and love Unix-style OSes).

              Back of the net!

I wish they could work some kind of miracle and get PowerPC Mac's in on it too.

How do you get windows onto it though? Is it just a case of installing it?

I'm buying an Intel iBook as soon as they're available. My G4 needs an upgrade and this is the perfect excuse to do it.

That is very interesting indeed! A pity Macs are so pricey - I loved the ease of the all-in-one unit.

I dont see the point really, but its an interesting idea if you do want the best of both worlds I suppose.

Which have you had more experience using?

I personally can't stand the mac os and macs in general. But maybe thats got to do with mainly using win stuff over the years.

I'd suggest you have a good play around with the os before considering buying.

You might all want to hold your horses. It's a time-limited beta at the moment.

It's wonderful they can do this for everyone, but until the early bugs get ironed out and we find out what's going to be done with the finished product (Free in Leopard? Free generally? Pay extra thing?) I wouldn't want to commit too much time or cash.

Why buy a Mac to run Windows?
