    Dreamcast: sound, no vision

Please help - just took my Dreamcast out of hibernation and I can't get a picture, either with my official or unofficial scart. So frustrating - I could hear Skies of Arcadia but that's all. I tried pushing the connector hard into the back of the machine but this just made the tv change channels ...

Just a suggestion but try your scart in AV1 (RGB) - although tbh it shouldn't make a difference.

Other than that if you've tried both cables and checked that everything's clean then I really don't know

I had exactly the same problem and unfortunately I've not been able to resolve it.

However, bizzarely the DC seems to work when I use a VGA box and a monitor. So I just play my DC through that these days.

I just tried it on our other tv -exactly the same ...

Must I resign myself to its death?

Quite possibly. Unless it's just the scart cable thats fecked?

I don't think so - I've tried two different scarts -one official, one not.

Is it an NTSC Skies of Arcadia? Is it one of the handful of games that doesn't support RGB mode? Can you try a different game?

I had this. Do you know for sure if either of the cables is RGB wired? When I ran mine through either AV2 (no RGB) or with a composite cable, I'd get sound and very dark pictures, RGB though woks like a dream.

Haha (not at you!) i had this problem with my 3rd dreamcast, sound and no picture but i tried it with the r/f that i had and it worked fine, bought another scart and it worked, although it does sound more serious as i doubt it could be your leads that wouldn't be working (being two)

I've tried other games with no success. Just turning on the Dreamcast I hear the intro and sounds when I press buttons on the controller.

One of the Scarts is the official one.

I think I'll have to try to unearth my old unmodded Dreamcast and see if that works - it's at the back of the eaves though so it may be a struggle ...
