Stepdown Failing?

Morning all

I was playing on the Jap Cube I got yesterday and it turned itself off, as if some dwarf child had sneaked under my desk and unplugged it without me hearing or seeing. It turned itself back on, so I assumed that this dwarf child had a heart after all. But! Lo and behold a mere 5 minutes later it turns off again! I look under the desk and, to my disbelief, there's no dwarf child!

So I'm thinking it could be my stepdown. Could it be anything else? There wasn't a burning smell.

Also, can I use a UK GC PSU on a Jap console? Just in case it is the stepdown

Might be the stepdown got too hot and shut itself off - clearly done to pretect your console

I had that problem a couple of times with my US Xbox, I was only using a 100w stepdown and it shut out a couple of time. Eventually a I got a beefy 300w, but then I er well accidently blew the power supply in the Xbox itself, and got a UK one of Ebay

Anyhow I digress, to answer your other question I have a US cube, with a UK power supply purchased direct from Nintendo ages ago, and it works fine

Because I think the whole power malarky is located outside the Cube, there is no problem using a UK supply, as everything is done inside that, and nothing inside the cube? (Did that even make sense?) Bottom line is YES is will work

It was quite warm yesterday and there' something rattling around inside it (the stepdown), so there could be something up.

As I say mine got really warm and just cut out for no reason with my Xbox. It did it a couple of times over a few weeks but once I changed it, it never happened again.

It's worth getting a UK supply for your cube if you still can as it just makes things much easy! And stops you accidently plugging it in to the UK mains which is how my US Xbox supply died (though it's all sorted now!)
