    XBox stepdown transformer power rating

    Hello, i am from UAE

I recently bought an Xbox, US version

Now I know the ****ty conversion thing but my question is about the power.

In the FAQ, i read 150W will do just fine....

However, in the markets here, I don't find any 150W.

    Will a 200W or 300W do?

Since only 50,100,200 and 300W ones are avaliable here.

    Hi
    Welcome to NTSC-uk!
We have many members from outside the UK, from all over the PAL territories, so hang around for the discussion.
If you can afford it, then go for a 300W stepdown. 150W is just the minimum we recommend. Someone on these boards has a 1300W stepdown that he can plug all his consoles into at once

      Hello again,

300W? well in that case I can even afford 500W, that is not the problem.

Anyway, thanks for telling me tht 150W is just the minimum and we can shoot up to 1300W we like so....

I thought 200W would supply extra current and BURN my Xbox

      Thanx a lot again...

I thought I read that a 100W stepdown would be fine - did I read wrong?

The Xbox draws a max of 100W, so if the xbox really goes for it (using the network card, dvd drive, hardisk, processors etc all at the same time, the power supply will pack up if you use a 100W stepdown. Use 150W minimum for cool running. Some people use the readily available 105W stepdowns and don't have any trouble, but why risk it.
