need help with dvd drive (no sound)

Hi,

trying to fix my sis's laptop. It plays dvds fine except that they don't have sound. It plays all other sounds fine including cd's. Its a viglen dossier xt got through the teachers initiative thingy if thats any help. All help appreciated!

Check the "sounds and audio devices" in control panel, click advanced and make sure that none of the options are on mute/low volume - pressing options/properties on that window also gives you additional things to look at, alternatively double click the volume icon you might have in the taskbar for the same.
