question about 'ico'... us, pal or jpn?

i have a us pstwo with swap discs and i am curious which version of this game to get. i've heard the us is the only version that doesn't have yorda translated or playable, but i worry that the pal won't play/sound right and the jpn version wouldn't be in english...

so which one should i get?

PAL version is considered the best I think, a few puzzles are different from the US version I believe.

Unless your US PS2 is modded, then you can't play the PAL version.

Well with swap magic you can force the game in either NTSC or PAL.

While we're here: Does anyone know if the Japanese or Korean versions have English subs? My PS2 is Asian so I can't play any other region.

He said he's got the swap discs.. if you're in the US though your TV has to support PAL. If it doesn't, forget it.

                No it doesn't.

If you've got swap magic, you can play any game in 50hz or 60hz.

I was playing Initial D Special Stage in 50hz before I got an RGB cable.

If you imported the PAL version and used the swap magic option to force it to NTSC display mode, it'll work.

Not on my version! I guess this is limited to the latest releases of Swap Magic (3.6?) so I'd check that first... of course PAL Ico has a 60hz mode anyway so if you can find out the correct key presses you could set it up blind anyway.

The PAL version is the only version with a secret: there's a hidden room with a lightsabre in it. It's more powerful than the regular weapons and it grows to a ridiculous length when you hold Yorda's hand.

As for the dialogue - it's all made-up language anyway, and the subtitles are in heiroglyphs until you finish the game. But there's only about 20 lines in the whole thing anyway.

                              EDIT - PAL version has a 60hz mode. D'oh!
