360 & iPod - reading the music just got alot slower :(

I'm not sure what happened here but since I last re-synced my iPod, it now takes an age for the 360 to read the music on it - around 20 revolutions of the green light on the screen now - whereas previously it'd scan it in half the time.

Anyone else use their iPod as the music source and have an idea what may have caused it? Also, if I'm playing music and I go to change the artist or playlist etc, it rescans the whole iPod instead of going 'Back' like I thought it would. Is this the norm?

FWIW it's a 4G Clickwheel 40gb iPod and it's practically full, except for a few hundred MB.

Maybe they've done a firmware update to stop it ?

I've not done any updates, just re-synced it with iTunes after I ripped a few CDs. So around 150mb was sent to it and the database updated which has screwed it up. Maybe a reformat would fix it but that means re-syncing everything again
