Ninja Gaiden Black save file

Hi chaps. And ladies.

Ninja Gaiden Black. I own Ninja Gaiden and have almost finished it, some may say about two or three years too late, but hey, whatever. I've seen Ninja Gaiden Black going cheap and wondered if it recognises the save file from Ninja Gaiden and it'll see that I'd have finished it once and unlocked whatever was relevant, or would I have to start all over again?
Easy question really.

I didn't think Team Ninja would be so stupid as to neglect recognition of the previous version's save file, considering that their production values are always so high.
