    Game - "No Further Exchanges"

I exchanged Tomb Raider Legend last week as I'd completed it, took Top Spin 2 instead. Was just tidying up my desk tonight when I foudn the receipt. The bloke who served me has scribbled "No Further Exchanges" on the receipt and signed it.

Anyone know what the score is with this? I know the exchange thing is at their discretion, but why the change all of a sudden?

they probably just think your taking the pee, apparently the 10 day returns policy is to be abolished soon, see the "GAME profits down" thread started earlier today.

Yeah, I noticed that, tbh its just another reason never to go there again. Its just surprising the guy did it to me on this occasion, like i said in the other thread, the staff in there have been getting worse, so I'm sure he enjoyed weilding his immense power like this.

I had this happen to me last year, when Game did their "trade in 3 games and pay 99p for any chart game" promotion. I did the 10 day return thing twice - and, even though each game went back the next day (i.e. I didn't like the game so took it straight back, rather than play it for 10 days...) on the second exchange "no further exchange" was written on the receipt.

I was told that you were only allowed to exchange a purchase three times under the 10 day offer. Apparently they're always supposed to do it, but most of the time they don't. Funnily enough, that was the only occasion I've utilsed their 10 day offer...and, I think, the last time I shopped at a Game store!

They're a shop that's out to make money.
The only reason any of us ever shops there is to buy a present for a PAL-owning friend/relative or to snaffle old XBox games for cheap that we never got around to getting in the first place.
It's nice of them even to have offered the exchange in the first place.
          Why the moaning?

You can't expect them to let someone keep exchanging games. Its not a rental service, just allows you to return a game if you dislike it.

              YES

I'm getting annoyed with people who feel it is some god given right to use them as a rental service. I know the people who work at my local game and I still dont abuse the 10 day "offer"

i'm surprised they still offered it as you only should use them when buying something you deffo will be keeping as i've found to have issues with em when returning items

I don't blame them at all. When people flagrantly abuse the system and use it like a Blockbuster you can't blame them when they're out to make money. It's not like you have a right to indefinitely finish games before the return time is up and take them back for a full refund every time and will only lead to people who genuinely want to use it for a good reason getting the shaft when they end the policy.

Well, they are a business and out to make money, but as far as the 10 day thing goes, they should either offer it and make the terms and conditions clear, or not offer it at all. Its being stopped anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

It's been like that for as long as I can remember; you can only return a game once, and then you have to keep the second. If you make a fuss, you'll maybe get an exchange / credit on the second. You could be cheeky and return it for cash, then buy the new game to have it on a new receipt, but personally I don't. (I've seen it happen quite a few times though)

If you've got two Game's in town, you can bypass this "no further trades" thing by returning a game in exchange for gift vouchers, which you can use in the other shop. Naturally, if you want your money back each time, there isn't a paper trail to begin with.

It's a lot of hassle though and you'll soon get known for it.

Why not just rent the games in the first place if you're just going to return them?

I prefer to keep mine, but there are plenty of places that do rentals in a similar way to the no late fees DVD stuff.
