psp 2.7 firmware question

Hello. Im going to import a white psp value pack from play asia this week. With the new firmware release will this mean that the unit will be preloaded with 2.7?

I am planning on using it mainly for homebrew so would having 2.7 be a problem when downgrading the firmware?

also just another quick one; is japan's umd video region 2? (so all UK umd videos will play on it?)

I doubt that it will have 2.7 on it, more likely 2.5

UK UMDS will play fine on it (they do on my JPN white one anyway)

Probably not and yes it would be a problem. I don't think you can downgrade from anything higher than v2.0, but some later firmwares do have the ability to run homebrew through a GTA exploit. If you want to play homebrew properly scout around for a v1.5 system.

Regarding UMDs, yeah UK UMDs will be fine.

MonkeyWrench is right, 2.0 is the last firmware version that was fully downgradable to 1.5

If a 1.5/2.0 system is that important to you, then ebay is probably your best bet tbh, though some US stores still have brand new Black 1.5 versions for sale (at about a ?100 premium)

im gona risk it and get one, im sure on my old us unit i downgraded from 2.5 to 2 then 2 to 1.5
