Differences between EUROPEAN PAL and AUSTRALIAN PAL??

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the european PAL games and australian PAL??
It seems that the PAL version of oblivion works on a 360 NTSC/U but I have a Xbox 360 NTSC/U and a copy of Oblivion PAL EURPEAN and it doesn't work. I talked with a guy that has a 360 NTSC/U and a copy of oblivion PAL AUSTRALIAN and he todl me that it works for him 100%.
All the major sites for import games tell that Oblivion PAL works on a xbox 360 NTSC/U.
Anybody can explain me why I get region code error?

Australian PAL and the UK PAL standards use a different sound carrier via RF. For example, you won't be able to use a PAL PSone with UK RF lead on an Australian TV, coz you won't get any sound. However, for console purposes, no, there is no difference in the hardware itself. Perhaps there is a different run or version number between yours and his, in either software or hardware?
