    Best Harvest Moon game ?

Never played one before and feel the urge to give one a try, most of them seem to score about the same (70 to 80%) on most site reviews.
Any particular version stand-out or prehaps a bit more noob friendly ?
Or should I wait six weeks for the DS version ?

    Ta.

I always found the Gameboy colour one simple and fun, where as the later ones get more complex involving many more crops, marrige, relationships, more animal types etc...

The GBC one is fairly big and has quite a few things to do.

I've played the Snes, GBC, PSX and the GBA version, I think that the PSX has the most to do, but the GBA one is virtually identical anyway.

Whilst the GBC ones are good, they lack the story and lots of features and the big town that the GBA version has.

I'd say pickup the GBA version cheap, or hang on for the DS version.
I tried to get into the Gamecube one, but having a portable version to play here and there (whilst watching TV) seems like much less of a waste of my life.

GBA one is the best, its 90% based on the great PS1 version.

The SNES version has a special place in my heart although the GBA version is pretty darn good, I have to say.

I'm another one converted to it by the GBC version, which although it looks incredibly basic seemed to be the most focused and fun one. It doesn't have the town, dating/marriage, and surrounding area to explore like most other versions, but that made it less of a pain to manage your crops and livestock in addition to everything else.

Otherwise the GBA version is the one to go for. Portable, looks nice (for me none of the 3D ones have had the same charm), and fully featured. You can do as much or as little of the stuff as you want, but either way it's a great time waster.

I was reccomending the GBC one first as its the most simple and basic.. plus cheap so the OP could decide whether he liked it or not.

I picked up GBA one, not had much chance to play it though, as the missus loves it she loves all the Sims like games, it's almost grounds for divorce.

There's no doubt for me I reckon its got to be the Nintendo 64 version. Mind you I've only played GBA, GC, GBA and PS1 versions. It really has the edge over those and really was suited to the analogue control of the 64. Anyone who has an import copy of the American version will tell you the same, I'm sure of it.

Just check the reviews out everywhere for the American version. Its quite expensive to pick up even now in America, but is one cart that is definately worth it and sometimes you can get one cheap enough. Shame it never came out here. It was very close to being released, but unfortunately never made it. It bodes well for the DS version though.
