    Connecting to Live

    I ahvent got a 360 yet and Im a Live n00b.

I have a wireless network in my house but the router is downstairs. I have a PC in teh same room as the 360 would be that is connected wirelessly.

Does this mean I have to get a 360 wireless router for ?60 or could I use ethernet cable to connect the 360 to my PC's Network port? This would then be connected wirelessly to the router downstairs.

Would I be able to use the Media Centre with this (stream songs from my PC to 360)?

A cable should work fine. I played live for about 2 years through my pc's network card, with no glitches at all.
As for the other stuff, I have no idea.

Thanks. I was looking on the xbox website tro see if they had all the different configurations but all I could see is recommendations to buy the official wireless adapter, surprise surprise. 60 quid though - thats 2 games!

        ha, 2 xbox 360 games for 60 quid - you'll be lucky.

(unless you mean second hand, and if so, i take back that statement wholeheartedly )

Well, yeah. I'd get the early games off here (COD2 etc)

So you can connect a 360 to a PC network port and enjoy live like that?

Yes, I think so, although you will need to keep your PC on obv.
At least that's how it worked with the humble old XBox.

I ran my Xbox like that before I got a router and it was fine. It's a minor inconvenience that the PC has to be running at the same time (my PC fans make my 360 sound quiet) and you can get lag if there's something intensive going on with the PC at the same time, but it should work without a problem. Xbox.com has a good guide.

Thanks, it will tide me over before I get the wireless adapter then.

That's how I'm running my 360 right now...

I've setup Internet Connection Sharing setting the wireless connection as the internet connection (you need to lie a little and claim the PC is connected directly to the internet) and then the Xbox plugged in via crossover cable. Quick and easy to set up but the latency can take a hit.
