Yet another ISP question - help me decide!

Well, I'm kicking Pipex to the kerb (girlfriend... erm... or something) since they can't seem to sort out ADSL Max for existing users

So I'm looking at shifting to either Zen or Nildram - having consulted ADSLguide they seem to be the most decent at the moment.

I'm just after some first hand opinions from people on here about either of them - good and bad impressions welcomed.

    Thanks in advance

I'm with Zen still on 2mb (had a choice of keeping unlimited bandwith or moving over to 8mb capped, so chose the former).

Maybe it's just my exchange, but P2P/torrenting I get fairly average speeds for my connection (usually 50/60kbps, sometimes 100/120). Yes I've got things configured right on my end, and I used to see higher speeds with Wanadoo at 1mb when it came to BT. I'm not sure if Zen are secretly throttling P2P speeds or not in other words. They say they don't, but my experience is otherwise.

As for reliability and customer service. Their reputation is deserved.

i've just moved to nildram, i dont have the maxdsl but my 2mb has been rock solid so far, very good speeds and an excellent mycontrols section that give useage details , account details etc

i use torrents and have had good speeds from them but it depends really on how many people are on the torrents

wod, I've been on Nildram for about 4 years and I'm thinking of leaving them 'cause they have 50Gb caps every month which is no good for a heavy downloader like me...
Anyone know of a good unlimited bandwidth ISP for me?

Recently found out my ISP's supplier , Entanet is apparently conducting traffic management , the gits.
During peak times they prioritise the bandwidth for business accounts/users , and choke all bandwidth for none necessary protocols , p2p and NNTP etc.

Also , Adslmax is a farce.....BT need a good kick in the sack.Never seen such a poorly planned or implentmented service.Rate adaptive dsl seems to be a winner everywhere else except in the UK...

That's the impression I'm getting myself. Everyone seems to be saying that the Max roll out has been a total nightmare with unstable connections and random speeds amongst other problems.

I haven't switched from Pipex yet and I'm seriously considering holding out until the dust settles before I jump ship. Paying a little bit more on my current tarrif for a stable connection seems worth it at the moment.

So it seems Zen have put in daily caps, despite being on 2mb and paying ?35 a month.

Been frequently disconnected whilst downloading stuff on Live tonight even though I've been fairly inactive for a month. Colour me unimpressed.

There's a stickied thread for all ISP chat now, so I'm going to close this one
