    PStwo flip top issues

I just bought a PStwo with a flip top (for playing imports and the like) already fitted but it seems to be quite loose, so much so that when you change discs if you accidently knock the ps2 it acts as if the lid has been opened.

As you can imagine this is pretty frustrating, I have managed to fix the issue by securing the lid with some tape but it looks extremely unweildly.

Is this a common issue? What can be done to secure the lid properly?

You don't need a Flip Top with a Slimline pstwo. Just use these with your original case.....

The MagicKeys ones are much better than the plastic ones you can pick up

I got told that the flip top was much, much better though?

Anyway the console came with the lid fitted, could I just take the fitted lid off and fix the original case back on? I noted no additional screws came with the console, doesn't the original lid need more screws than the fitted one?

        I've no idea mate,

The fliptop was better than the alternatives on the older bulkier machines because the only other option was to force the drive out.

For the slimline there really is no benefit of using the fliptop, it invalidates your warrenty, costs more, and in all fairness if the warrenty isn't an issue getting it modded properly would be better IMO.

All the fliptop does is the same as the magic keys 2, Fool the pstwo into thinking the drive is closed when it's open, thus invalidating your warrenty with Sony at the same time

Modded properly is mad expensive though. Well too expensive for me anyhow.

I'll try and re-fit the original lid if it's possible and get the magic keys I think.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Edit: Alternatively, are there are specialist modding type forums where somebody could help me?

It is possible to remove a flip lid & put the original back on. I did the same thing myself as the flip lid I'd fitted was pretty useless.

It'll only take you 5-10 mins & is dead easy (& you have all the screws you need!). Here's a link that'll show you how to replace the lid:

            http://www.swapmagic3.com/Flip_Top_7000X_Install.htm

It's aimed at fitting a flip lid but putting the old one back on is done in exactly the same way

Edit: in step 1 you can stick something like a small sewing needle under the screw caps to remove them.
