Should I get a DS Lite?

I dunno when they'll be available here in the UK, or their price, so I was thinking of getting 1 from Lik-Sang.

Is it worth getting or should I wait for the UK release?

If anyone knows any info on the UK release/price or recommendations please let me know, thanx.

I don't think a UK release date or price has been confirmed yet. However, there has been some advertising on Channel 4 for it so I'd guess it'll be out this summer. Price is likely to be around that of the original DS (?90ish).

It's really up to you whether you import or not. It'll cost a bit more but if you're desperate for one then it might be worth the extra.

Personally I'd avoid Lik-Sang as you're very likely to get stung with customs charges. You might be able to pick one up for a reasonable price on the trading boards here or alternatively www.yesasia.com are selling them for approx. ?116 including free standard shipping (takes approx. 2 weeks to arrive though). Their free shipping is also vat free which could save you ?20-25 in charges.

Apparently June 23rd, ?150. (presumably ?100 in the UK)

Personally I'm going to be waiting for the UK release so I can return it to GAME if I get any dead pixels. (I went through four systems with my original DS)

EDIT: And I have no idea why currency symbols are shown as garbled text when I post them from a Mac.

Nintendo has announced that the DS Lite, the redesigned version of its multi-million selling dual screen handheld, will launch in Europe on June 23rd, priced at GBP 99.99.

The original DS has already proved hugely popular with consumers around the globe, with 16 million units sold so far. The new model is around 60g lighter and two thirds of the size of the original, and features four screen brightness settings. It will be available in Europe in a choice of two colours - white or black.

Nintendo has lined up a healthy selection of software titles to coincide with the launch of the DS Lite. Brain Training, the mind exercising game which has taken Japan by storm, will launch here on June 9th. A new edition of Nintendogs - subtitled Dalmatian & Friends - will hit the shops a week later, followed by New Super Mario Bros. on June 30th.

July 7th will see the arrival of music maker Electroplankton and Big Brain Academy, a more lighthearted version of Brain Training.
Looks like it could have been worth the wait for those of us wanting black.

If it's glossy, and I think it probably will be, I think I'll be sticking with white.
