    Jap 360 owners advice please

Looking into getting a jap 360 (especially for Shutokou X), and i'm just wondering if any owners have had any problems with their imported 360 (eg disc scratching/ crashing etc). Also wondering about step down size (i have a 300w, but have heard that people have had problems with it)

    cheers

You don't have a PAL 360 by any chance as you could use the PSU from that instead of a step-down?

I do this with my US 360 & it works a treat.

I bought a Jap 360 back in December and it's worked flawlessly since then. I've had the odd freeze in games of course, but only about 3 or 4 in six months which is a lot less than most people seem to experience.

I'm using a 300w step down that I bought from Maplins, and like I said, it's been working flawlessly for six months (hopefully I haven't just cursed myself!!!).

You may want to think about getting an Asian 360 from somewhere like Play Asia. It's 100% compatible with all the Japanese games and it comes with a 220 volt UK style power supply, so no step down, convertors, etc, needed.

Edit: Here's a link to the Asian 360's on Play Asia. If you got caught by customs you'd probably be looking at around ?300 including delivery.

Any advantage to getting an Asian 360?

Surely that above posts answered that question? If not the Asian one require no stepdown, whereas the JPN one does.
            Kept you waiting, huh?

Yeah, the one I just said The Asian 360's come with a 220 volt UK power supply, so you can use it here without any need for stepdowns etc.. It's identical to the Japanese machine in every other respect. So instead of having to spend ?40+ on a decent stepdown, you can buy an extra game, extra pad, etc..

If I was buying now, I'd get an Asian 360 ahead of a Japanese 360. Unfortunately the Asian models weren't out when I bought my Japanese model back in Dec 05.

Edit: beaten to it by two people. I type far too slowly!

Oh Well in that case... a few main ones: you can get Japanese exclusive games that are never released here (although there probably won't be that many on the 360 to be honest!)

You'll be able to get some games early, such as 99 Nights, which I've been playing since 20th April. Don't think that's out here until June or July.

And another big one is that you can buy the Asian versions of games very cheaply. Usually just under ?25 each from Play Asia, including postage.

Hmm, they're the points I came up with. But I have reservations over whether it dies or something. I won't be able to send back will I?

To be honest, I don't know what the situation is when it comes to an import machine dying (and hopefully I never will know ). You could always give Microsoft a phone call and ask them what their policy is.
