Can a imported game link up via Wi-Fi with a UK game?

It depends entirely on the game. Some can, some can't. Some are fine as long as the copies are the same language, some aren't.

For the record., UK Mario Kart and US Mario Kart link up fine.

For the most part, UK and US ones link up fine, compatibility issues occur when the games are a different language.
