    360 video streaming

Quick question I suppose...is there any way to stream video, or play divx/xvid files on the 360 other than using a media centre pc?

If you put the divx/xvid on a dvd/cd and put them in the 360 it wouldn't work would it?

If only I could find a way of getting it to work I could retire my dvd player!

Transcode 360 works good for me.

Edit - Sorry it uses Media Center.

      None, no way at all.

The cynical side of me says they are doing it on purpose, though MS's official line is that they are working on it.

It's much harder because it means they have to develop software decoders, whereas I believe Media Centre does all that at the PC end.

It's supposedly being added to Windows Vista, but of course you're going to have to buy that for who knows how much. There must be a way to do it so I'm surprised that no third parties have jumped on it.

I suppose since on the original xbox the only way to play divx/xvid was to chip it, it's unlikely they will be embracing the format on the 360 any time soon? How about WMV files? If I re-encoded to that format would the 360 read it?

Then again, why on earth would I want to reduce the quality that much.

I just don't get it...I can stream MP3s no problem but not video?
