Xbox 360 / Live Help

Hi guys....

Would like some help here please...

I have a laptop in my bedroom connected to a wireless network router (which is upstairs) however my 360 is in my room, now surely i can run the ethernet cable to the 360 to get a connection from the internet, i seem to only be able to get them both not working so anyone who could help me with this problem would be a legend

Laptop with internet connection, able to browse net etc...
Xbox360 ... connected to this laptop, connected to live

Have you tried Internet Connection sharing?

You'll need a crossover cable for it.

I havent no... will the long lead i got with my 360 not work?

Can't remember if the cable that comes is a straight through or crossover. If it is (crossover), then it should work. If not, you'll need to buy/make one I think.

I havent got the foggiest, not sure what the difference is to be honest, also where is ICS settings on here

The chances are the cable that came with the machine will work, it won't hurt to try.

ICS is ****ing awful though is it not ? Laggy, dropped packets galore etc etc ? Get a dirty long network cable and hook it straight in bypassing the laptop !!

Yeah, plus you will need to have your laptop on all the while you are playing. However, if it's all you can do, it should work.

the rents wont allow me to run a dirty long network cable through the house, might have to buy the wireless thing grr

They're expensive, but on the plus side the wireless adaptors are bloody ace.

The thing is i dont have a phoneline in my new room like my old one did, that's what's stopping the router from going in this room. I'd rather buy a new game

ICS would be perfectly fine for using LIVE if set up correctly, however if you were against using it then just get a Wireless Bridge like in other thread.

B grade with 30 day warranty but at ?15 worth a shot.

They work perfectly with the Xbox 360 as well as the Xbox and don't break the bank, that would be the way for you to get the best connection, not being able to lay cables and such.

Using ICS from a PC that is connected wireless is nigh on impossible to get to work, you'd be better getting the bridge or wireless adapter.
