480p dashboard update for original xbox (NTSC)

    Hi all,

I recently got a new NTSC Xbox. I want to update the dashboard so it will display in 480p instead of 480i.

On the MS Xbox site it says you can connect to Xbox Live and the new update will download automatically. Has anyone outside of the US tried this? If so, was it successful?

    Thanks

    Luke

Pop in a Live game (one that is at least less than a couple of years) and try and play some Live multiplayer (doesn't matter if you have Live or not). The game will update the dashboard for you.

Once that is done, you'll need to pull both triggers and click down on both thumbsticks at the same time to engage 480p in the dashboard.

Can you get 480p on a chipped XB or have I been using 480i all the time?

If it's a PAL machine, you have to patch your machine using Enigmah VideoSwitcher, then enable the said modes in the XBox dashboard. If you've not done thatm then yeah you've been using interlaced all this time.

I've been using Enigma for ages - so I guess I have been using 480p then

And assuming you've set said modes in the MS dashboard, and did the 'hold both triggers and ress both thumbsticks' thing on the MS dash :P
