    Has anyone used allasus.com before?

    Hi there,
I've been wanting to buy a dual core laptop for a while - I've seen the Asus W3J customised on this website for the equivalent of (including shipping) ?1180. This seems like a ridiculously good price compared to the UK version with half the spec, a much slower hard drive, half the RAM and a slower processor.

The only thing that's stopping me is them saying that if they change the components then it's not covered by the global Asus warranty and there maybe tax to pay. I suspect the tax can be got round as there is a notes box where you can ask for the item to be sent as a gift. What do you suggest I put in the box so that I don't get stung by Customs? Any ideas and feedback on that website would be very welcome... I NEED THAT LAPTOP lol

Putting it as a gift only raises the allowance from ?18 to ?30.
You'll need to get it marked down as returned goods or something...

I have had an Asus W3V (the previous model) and it is a top laptop. A few niggles but I am glad I got it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys - allasus.com e-mailed within 30mins of me sending the enquiry(!). Unfortunately it is their poilcy NOT to mark items as gift or faulty merchandise. If there are any problems with the laptop you will have to fork out for the shipping costs to them (and back!) + the ASUS global warranty is void (because the laptop has been customised)... so I think I may leave it for now

Mind you it's given me more incentive to hold out for the 64bit mobile Merom core duo2 laptops coming out August/september
