Is Freeloader really unreliable for anyone else?

I have version 0.6b and it seems loading a JPN/US game is a matter of pure chance.

Half the time i stick in the Freeloader and it boots to the map screen, i then put in a disc and the GC resets to black and nothing happens - the GC seems to be locked up as the Reset button does nothing, i have to turn it off then on again.

Other times i boot to the FL map screen and "Insert Disc" comes up immediately, then it will boot the JPN/US game ok.

This happens with the Wavebird plugged in and with the normal controller plugged in, and on every JPN i have.

The alternate loading methods dont make a difference, and in fact the 2nd loading method doesn't even work. I press Z and nothing comes up on the screen.

    Any ideas?

    0.6b? You sure you don't mean 1.6b?

I'd say it locks up 1 in 10 times or so. Can be annoying.

        That's 1.06b

I haven't got many games to use it with, but find that there's roughly a 1 in 6 chance they don't load for me, but I can live with that until I can afford a switched JP/US machine.

          Mine rarely loads first time...

I've tried it with 5-6 US/JAP games and it seems to be a matter of luck every time IMO

Ah right. Glad to see it's not just me then.

I've just ordered a Freeloader to play Jpn games on my US Cube ...

Has anyone had similar locking up issues in that situation - or is it just an NTSC games on PAL machine problem ?

Fairly reliably, I find that on first turning on to load Animal Crossing it doesn't work. Turn off and back on and it goes second time every time.

I suspect its something to do with resetting and then loading rather than loading from a cold boot.
