    Belkin router and 360. Collision.

    Hi folks

I'm trying to change my NAT setting from "moderate" to "open" on my 360.

I'm getting stuck when trying to open port 88. I get the error message "The public port number cannot be 88.Because it will have a collision with the Wireless Router web service".

I do not know what this means. I do not really know what I am doing. But I have been trying to teach myself and am becoming aquainted with DMZ settings, port forwarding, DNS settings and many other arcane secrets of the virtual world.

My eyes are now bleeding from the amount of research I've done trying (and failing) to rectify this so I was hoping someone here might be able to shine some light on this and put me out of my misery.

Model number of router is F5D7231-4 if that's any help.

Thanks in advance for any crumbs of advice you can throw me.

    Cheers.

Been having a look around for you and come across this....

So i'd suggest making sure your firmware is V1.20 or higher first.

Secondly open all of the below for optimum compatibility....

    UDP 88
    UDP 3074
    TCP 3074

      Hi Jay

      Thanks for looking.

      My firmware is version 4.05.03.

Unfortunately, opening UDP 88 is what's bringing up the collision error message. I might just have to try Belkin direct.

      Thanks again.

Thought I'd post a quick update on this in case it helps anyone with a similar problem.

I e-mailed Belkin support (who got back to me within 24 hours) and was advised to open port 8080 instead of 88. My NAT is now "open".
