Trading in your old DS

Hey,
Thinking of trading in my old DS for a lite. Anyone know were you can do this, how much of a discount is offered and if possible, how long the deal lasts? I wanted my DS for a trip in a few weeks and won't have the cash to make the trade-in until i'm back, so i'm hoping this offer lasts a while.

GAME in walthamstow are offering ?40 trade in when you buy a lite. No idea how long the offer is valid for though.

I think a member mentioned in another thread that Gamestation are giving ?45 trade in on a DS at the moment.

They are. It's ?100 for the DS Lite and a free game and you get ?45 trade for a DS

Yeah, I have actaully called Gamestation and they aren't sure if the deal will last much longer than a week. I'm not sure if i'd be better trying to sell of my DS elsewhere to make the cash.

Does it have to be boxed?

I did actually ask the guy on the phone and i'm quite sure he said no but i'm going to bring mine along when I go just in case.

Although at game, I hear it has to be boxed and even has to include the game that originally came with it. So if you got the Mario Kart bundle, you need Mario Kart in there. For ?40, that's a pretty poor deal.

I seem to remember that the only thing that distinguished the Mario Kart bundle from a standard DS was a card outer sleeve that slid over the DS box. Remove that & you have a regular DS box, so need to hand over the game with it

If that's the case then your probably right. I did the trade-in at gamestation today and they gave me the ?45 and I didn't have to provide the box, just the DS and the charger. They did ask me if I had the box, however.

?45 is probably not too bad a deal really. I'm pretty sure trade-in prices will drop a fair bit over the next few months & if you'd sold it on ebay or here you probably wouldn't have made much more by the time you'd covered postage, fees etc.

If you've still got your old thumbstrap it's worth holding onto as the Lite doesn't come with one

I got ?70 for mine. Minus fees and whatnot I'd say I got ?65.

I was trying to flog mine of for ?60 in the trading forums but no one was buying it. Fair enough since the Lite is out!

And, I do have a thumb strap which is handy. I wonder why they didn't include one though, they improved everything else...
