    Make sure it's totally plugged, mine is horrendously hard to plug

      Ok, I'll try that. I've been reading snippets all over the 'net of what it might be; do you have to have the audio outputs connected for the box to work? It's a UK machine, too - does that make any difference?

        The VGA box should work fine with a UK machine. Some games don't support VGA and won't display but you should be able to see the main DC menu screen if you boot up with no disc inserted.

        The audio outputs don't need to be connected to get a picture.

        Edit: the red light on these boxes doesn't come on when a DC is connected, it'll only light up if you're also plugging a pc into the box. If you have a spare vga cable it might be worth plugging your pc into the box and see if you get a picture. If you do then it'd suggest your dc is probably the problem.
