"Xbox 360 Cannot Be Contacted" - Streaming Help!!

HI, have been racking my brains in trying to get my 360 to stream video files via my PC running Media Center. I run the www.xbox.com/pcsetup file, and follow the on screen instruction (whilst my 360 is on the correct screen) after all the installing of extender etc i put in my 8 digit code, and tells me that it is verifying the code, but after a while gives this screen

Setup Is Unable To Contact Xbox 360

Why do i get this message?? I have a Link SYS wired Router, which has no problem in allowing me to play Xbox Live, Stream Music and Picture files from my PC to the 360 (using MCE), so i dont think its the router causing the contact proble.m plus i have all the latest updates installed. Any ideas???

Have you by any chance got windows media connect installed? If so uninstall It first before running the media setup program, otherwise it will throw up the error you are seeing as that to is trying to install media connect.

Have uninstalled Media Connect, and then ran the media center setup program again, but i still get the same error message after it verify's the 8 digit code

Turn off all antivirus and firewall software that you have, make suer to switch off any hardware Firewalls in your router too.
If it works then you know it is a firewall and you can sort it out

I only have the windows firewall installed, and surely it couldnt be a router firewall, as i can stream music files from the PC to 360???

Windows Firewall was a problem for me getting it to work first.

Ok made some kind of progress, compeletly uninstalled WMC and ran media center setup, which also installed WMC aswell, but forgot to got to WMC and allow the 360, i did this selected which folders to share. Now when on the 360 if i select Media Connect if searches for a Media Center PC, but gives the message "Cant Connact PC", "Your Console Cant connact yout PC with Windows Media Center", gives me 2 options , Try Again or Network settings. I i got to network settings and test media connect, if finds everything without a problem, so why when i select Media Center can it not find my PC??

"ran media center setup" is that on the 360? As you only need to run that if you have Media Centre Edition XP, Just switch on wmc on you pc - add your music and picture folders - make sure it can see the 360 in the allowed box, on the 360 go to the media blade select music and select the pc and it should work. Think I got this in the right order - away at the moment.

Yeah i do have Meida Center Edition XP, i can get the music and pictures to work fine on the 360, its just that i cannot get it to work for movies
