    Logitech wheels for PS2

Ive read a few threads on these wheels and have just found out that there are 4 different Logitech FF wheels (I thought is was only 2) and some do not work well with certain games.

What would be the best wheel for Initial D and F355?

The original "GT-FORCE" one that came out in 2001. The one without the d-pad on it.

Kubrick, is there a (handling?) difference between the original GT-Force wheel & the GT3 branded GT-Force wheel other than the lack/ addition of a d-pad? They look almost identical.

I've never owned one, but apparently there are issues with the newer wheel that has the d-pad on it ("Driving Force"). I believe you need to use that d-pad or face buttons to change gears in some games instead of the paddles/triggers.

Same story if you try and use the latest "PRO" wheel (the one that has 900 degree mode and gearlever) on an old game like Initial D.

It's also worth noting that there's a PC version of the GT-FORCE, called the "Wingman". Apart from the colour, it's identical and works fine with PS2.

Ahh right, thanks for clearing things up.

Sounds like a bit of an oversight by Logitech. I'd guess more recent games (anything in the last 3yrs or so) won't have the same issues as game developers will have hopefully accounted for the problem or added an option to manually configure the control set-up.

            Thanks Kubrick.

Ive been using a freinds Gt force pro and need to buy my own wheel so im going to get a pro anyway but dont want to buy two wheels. Does F355 let you change gear with the shifter on the pro? I live without manual gears for initial D but not F355!

I doubt it, but I'll try and check

                Update:

Much to my surprise, the PRO wheel works perfect with F355! You can change gears with the paddles or the gearstick.

Neither work with Initial D though, so you need to use the d-pad.
