    I-Tunes alternative?

Hi - done a search on this, but couldn't find anything.

My girlfriend has an I-Pod and recently her laptop died. She wants to use my machine to administer it until she gets a new one, but because I am a video editor I have hundereds of thousands of MP3s and WAV files(sound effects, beds etc). I don't want to install I-Tunes, so I was wondering if there is any reliable third party software that would allow my PC to communicate with her I-Pod and selectivily send and recieve files to and from it?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Erm why cant you just selectivley use itunes it dosent automaticly just pull all mp3 files into it unless you tell it too.

if you are adament on not useing itunes check out download.com to see which mp3 software is getting positive feedback and try a few of them out to see which you like best.

There's a plugin for Winamp to let it talk with an iPod called ml_iPod. In some ways it's actually better than iTunes because it lets you sync multiple iPods from one music collection and even pull music off the iPod.

I know you dont want to, but is there a specific reason yuo dont want to install Itunes - Im not aware of any better method of creating/syncing playlists than that program, even if it does now seem to be a bit bloated. Sorry for not being of help, just wondering why you didnt want to install Itunes

I use a program called Ephpod that usually does the job. It lets you copy tracks from the Ipod to the PC too which ITunes doesn't.

EDIT: what's a bed in relation to mp3/sounds in your original post?

Another vote for Anapod Explorer here!

It's footprint is 1.5Mb as opposed to about 25Mb for iTunes.

It's interface is just like Windows Explorer. So all you do is drag and drop then create your playlists. I love it. It doesn't start fannying around searching your system etc etc.

It works with multiple iPods and you can drag tunes from your Pod back to your PC.
