How long is a piece of string (i-link)

this is for the technical bods: how long can an i-link cable be before it becomes ineffective?

Not sure, but most leads like this shouldn't be more then 2M before problems may happen. 5M is probably the maximum, but thats not gauranteed.

Acording to the specs you can run firewire networking upto 15 feet (4.5 meters) before you need a repeater/hub. You can use hubs to increase the distance to a maximum of 237 feet (72 meters)
