Hi people,

I have just had my xbox modded and am curently revelling in the delights of Final Burn Alpha! However, I know I could be getting a lot more out of my modded xbox. Questions;

Can someone explain evolution x to me? I've heard that it can do some permanent damage to the xbox. And is it a case of finding it and simply burning it to CD.

Also, is there a good neogeo emulator out or in development? Does mame run any of the neogeo beat em ups?

Get the Slayers install disc, and use this to install Media Player, Region free DVD player that uses the pad and loads of apps to put games on to your HD, as well as the Evox dashboard. Very easy to do.
Mame-X does a decent job of emulating quite a few Neo-Geo games including Metal Slug 1 and 2.

Thanks! Thats exactly what I'm looking for. But I'm still a little hesitant. The guy who modded it for me said something about people keep messing up their machines when playing around with evox. If I get slayer is it easy to ruin my xbox?

Not really, it does everything for you...
You cant really do much permanent damage to your Xbox (I think)... Best thing to do is just follow the step-by-step tutorials on Xbox-scene.com

people usually mess up their machines when they edit the evox ini file using an ftp client and their pc.
If you use slayers installer it will add all the apps you need to not have to do the above, for example if you put a game on your drive it will edit the ini for you.

even if you do mess it up these days, you just run slayers again, this was not possible when evox first came out.

yeah tis alot easier now, the hardest thing to do is the soldering which itself is easy

There is a newer verison of the Slayers disc out on IRC, the older versions programs are getting on a bit now.

I would recommend doing your own install, this will teach you far more than using an install disk - knowledge that will come in handy when you want to customise it. And unless you are completely clueless its not difficult.

If you do muck up your Xbox, you can use Slayers to format the HD, and just start again.
