Jap PS2 saves on a (mostly) european memory card?

I just got a Jap copy of Rez through the post this morning, and foolishly thought to myself "it won't format the memory card without asking me!" before loading the game. It didn't, but it did autosave.

Are Japanese saves OK on the same memory card as PAL ones? I've saved NTSC-U saves from Katamari Damacy and Collossus on there and they seem happy enough. The card doesn't auto-format like a GameCube. Well?

Yep they're fine, it's only the GC that has problem with different region saves (Well Jap)

OK, thanks. You hear a lot of cross-region memory card horror stories. Where do they all come from? The GameCube always asks before formatting.

The trouble is, it asks in Japanese.

I've fallen victim to the "Chaos Field formats your memory card" trick before now, and wasn't particularly amused. And it's a pisser that Mr Driller Drill Land won't save. But you're fine with the PS2. It takes everything but PS1 saves.

Yeah - should be no probs - I've used a 64Mb Datel card for almost a year now with USA/UK/JAP save on it not once has it messed up. However Datels buggy software is crap, to backup the data to a USB stick do not use move or the compress functions as it destroys/corrupts the saves ONLY use the copy function... I found this out the hard way grrr

It can actually take those if your PS1 memory card gets full up. Just copy them over and it'll store them, but you'll have to copy them back if you want to use them again since it can't read or write to them.

I didn't know that. Ta. I've been wondering how I could back them up.
