    PC Silence

How might one go about making their PC a hell of a lot quieter without getting water cooling or expending a lot of money?
I'm thinking the noise is coming from the PSU and CPU fans, but have never heard anything much quieter.
    Any tips?

I've made my machine near silent recently, and I didn't actually change a single fan.

People overlook the case and PSU. I have an Antec P180 case.... expensive at ?99, but it's truely the quietest case out there. Everything from the PSU to the HDD's to the main machine is separated into sound-proof compatments (this also helps for heat too). The material the case is made from is none of that nasty tin stuff that cheaper cases are made from - these serve to amplify the noise the components are making.

PSU-wise, I have a Seasonic S12 600W and I literally cannot hear it. I am considering an Enermax Liberty for my new machine, as the Seasonic power cable is a bit of a tight fit, but I cannot comment on it yet.

Both of the above were bought from www.overclockers.co.uk

Of course, a decent CPU fan can only help things. Might be better off nipping over to the Overclockers forums and asking about that, but I use my existing fan and simply turned it down - as long as the CPU doesn't go over 50C, it's fine in my book.

You could even try using an application to turn down the fan speed , I recently turned my graphics card fan down really low as I really don't use it for games at the moment, so its almost silent.
