I wanna play English games on a Jap 10000 series PS2

I've got 3 chunky PS2's and I leave my original unmodded 10000 series Japanese one at work. My colleagues are all bored of Winning Eleven and wanna play PES5 cos of the English commentry. What's best way for me to do this without chipping?
What are these slide card things like and do they only play originals or backups?

I would say the best way would be to get a network adaptor and HD Loader/Advance. Games of any region can be loaded onto the HD. Problem solved...ish.

network adapters aren't available for the original old series 10000 model though, is it?

You would need to use the USB one that they released for the slim line model.

It's not brilliant, the PS2 is only USB 1.1 so it's not the fastest, cutscenes usually run crap, loadings a tad longer etc, but it'll be fine for PES.

That said... USBExtreme+USB HDD? Easier to just get a preowned UK PS2.

You could use the Swap Magic discs and the slide card for ?30, if you wanna mess up your drive motor.

Could I permanetly leave the disc in tho?
Before I owned 3 PS2's. Two Jap and one US. I was wanting to trade a Jap one for a UK one for ages but no one could help me out.
I now have only one chipped UK one (for me only) and the other Jap 10000 PS2 I leave at work. This is the one that I need some work on as I wanna play the latest WE10 or the English version of PES5 and the soon to be PES6.
I don't really wanna an expensive solution as I only use the Jap 10000 PS2 to play WE9 with my colleagues at work...

Well the cheapest solution would be the Swpa Magic/Slide Card solution, but you'd have to boot the game with the Swap Magic every time.

I'm genuinely shocked no-one would trade a UK machine for a JPN one, actually.

The only problem being is that it will fritz up if you try to run anything 50hz in it
