    Q Component lead?

    Does one exist?

Can my Q rgb cable be changed/modified to a component one?

    Thanks.

Nick, the 'regular' Cube component lead also works with the Q. No modding needed.

Games will play in prog scan mode but not dvd's. I think s-vhs is the best you'll get when watching dvd's unfortunately.

w00t! I don't think I realised this would work. But then maybe someone told me already that it did and I forgot. I find all this teevee stuff so confusing.

A couple of questions - and sorry if they've been covered before:

Component is the best image quality, if your TV supports it, right?

Is the "regular Cube component lead" the same as the GameCube Official RGB Cable, please?

I think not, however I'm really not sure. I think the component cable looks like this and the RGB cable like this, with a scart socket on the end.

I'm pretty sure that the regular UK scart lead needs to be adapted for a Q. (??)

Finally, is it possible to get an adaptor to connect an component cable to a scart socket? This adaptor looks like it might work, bit it's not clear. As I understand it there are two different types of scart socket and only one of them would support such a signal.

      Stroller.

        Your overthinking it all mate.

Component is the only output that supports Progressive Scan on the GameCube, therefore it's the one to use.

(Yes I know you can get VGA from a GC using a modded D-Terminal cable, but it looks the same as Component - I own one. I read the GC renders in YUV internally, would explain it. Either way, use Component if you have a Component socket on your TV).

        No.
RGB = Scart. The RGB cable you are linking to is a UK Scart cable.

I'm pretty sure that the regular UK scart lead needs to be adapted for a Q. (??)
Almost. A UK GameCube Scart cable will not work on any NTSC GameCube because of differences Nintendo made internally. You can, however, modify a D-Terminal cable to get RGB Scart from an NTSC Cube, but this is irrelevent to you.

        Won't work.
Some TV's can accept Component input via the Scart, but it's very rare, probably without Progressive Scan.
Your TV will need a dedicated Component input.
