PsTwo Hard Disk Questions

Hi all,
Have an U.S Pstwo (slim) with Swap Magic.
Was interested in getting an external hard disk.
I've heard about HDLoader and various other things but wondered the best way to go with regards to software and the actual hard disk itself?? Would it work with Swap Magic i.e putting Jap/UK games on the Hard disk?? Or is there someway I can hook it up to my laptop externally using the Laptops cd drive??

It's very difficult with the slimline PS2, because there's no built-in HDD connection interface like there is with the original PS2.

To use HDLoader, you need to internally modify your machine, installing a HDD connection interface called HDConnect. Grab that soldering iron...

Alternatively, there's a program called USBExtreme which lets you use games from USB HDD. But compatibility is lower, and since the PS2 uses USB1.1, expect loooooong loading times and skippy movies etc.

Hmm ok mate,
So would any older version machine be compatible with the HDD or does it have to be a specific model?

Anything other than the Japanese launch model.
You will also need a network adaptor to physically connect the HDD.
