Movies that make great use of surround.

Just got my surrounds set up then realised I didnt have many suitable DVDs to make full use of it (mostly 2ch music related, many pirates:/), only T3 for a good boom thwack, but even on that the use of the surrounds was light (tho the first nuke was pretty ****in neat).

I remember in the cinema Private Ryan was impressive, dunno about when it made it to DVD.

    Any suggestions?

Edit : thanks for moving this to right section

      Fast and the Furious
Any Jurassic Park (if you can get the DTS ones)
      The Rock
      Armageddon
      ID4
      Day After Tomorrow.

Pretty much any big summer blockbuster from the last 10 years.

Forgot to mention Laserdisc too if applicable.

Tho it seems DTS versions are quadruple in price :/

The original Blade, The Matrix and Saving Private Ryan are the ones I use to show people my sound setup.

Lord of the Rings is nicely done.
First time I watched Fellowship on my system: near the start where Gandalf arrives on his cart I was convinced that there were loads of birds in my garden nattering away. Strange thing was, when I paused the dvd they all stopped chirping.

The pod race scene in Star Wars EP1. I hate the scene, but it is pretty good for showing off directional effects.

The whole Lord of The Rings trilogy in DTS, Saving private Ryan special 50th year edition in DTS is astounding.

Band of Brothers was fab too!

Swordfish when the ball bearing bomb goes off is great.

The azumi deluxe edition has a great soundtrack for testing your surround but my favourite is the recent kraftwerk dvd minimum /maximum. They spent a lot of time remixing a 5.1 track out of the audio from their recent tours. It'll make good use of your sub too, highly recommended.

A recent film that really impressed me was V For Vendetta. No DTS, but it's got a fantastic DD5.1 soundtrack. Very loud, very dynamic (ie lots of movement between speakers), and loads of LFE

Some of all my personal favourites:

                        Jurassic Park DTS -
                        Terminator 2 DTS
                        Matrix trilogy
Goldeneye - original has a superb DD soundtrack but the re-issued version has a DTS track. Anyone know if it's the same as the Laserdisc version?
