So what's the best way to connect...

?my Xbox , PS2 and Q to this monitor I bought the other day??

Currently I?ve got scart or s-video for the Xbox (though have an hd av cable somewhere I think), scart for the ps2 and one of those rather tasty Saurian cables for the Q.

Basically needed to get rid of the huge crt monitor after moving into our new flat and so bought this as a vaguely decent and cheap stop gap:

Sometimes a small monitor is exactly what you need. Browse Ebuyer's selection of 15-19 inch monitors and find the model that's the right fit for your desk.

Whilst waiting to buy a huge lcd (yes I?m looking at you Sony 40? Bravia?mmm) I?d rather play my games on this than the 21? w/s Sony tele I?ve got for obvious reasons.

So anyone care to comment?? All info/help much appreciated?

Bit hard really. You can get VGA boxes to convert Composite or S-Video to VGA and be done with it... but picture quality will leave much to be desired.
That's about the only way you'll do it on a PS2 or Q though (you can get a custom VGA cable of sorts for the Q, but it will only work on 480p games on that screen.

XBox... if it's a PAL system, you'll need to mod it and use the Enigmah videoswitcher to patch the EEPROM to NTSC to unlock the 480p/720p modes. Then buy an adaptor like the X2VGA or VD-Z3 to connect to a VGA monitor.

It's an ntsc-us Xbox so no need for the modding.

Hmm sounds like more effort than it's worth, maybe I'll just have to go buy that big lcd sooner than I planned...

      Thx anyway...

It will be the same with any PC screen, as PC screens typically lacks Component connections (and other legacy ports like Scart), as well as support for 480i and 50Hz - things LCD HDTV's support.

That's the advantage of a HDTV over a PC screen really.

Of course, with the 360 supporting VGA and the PS3 supporting HDMI (which you'll be able to hook up to a PC screen over DVI), this is becoming less of an issue.
