World Of Warcraft Game Time?

Does any world of warcraft game time card work on any account?

I mean my friend in USA wants to sell me his 60 days game time but I have a feeling the code will only work on USA accounts.

or would it work on my Uk account?

I suspect it's region specific... didn't Blizzard prevent any non-US credit cards to stop people importing the USA version a while back? So I'm guessing it'd be the same the other way around.
