    Opera browser question

I've just installed this because Firefox has pissed me off for the last time, it deleted ALL my bookmarks for absolutely no reason...I still don't know where they went and I've lost sites I really liked that I can't remember the URL.

So...opera seems good but there is one thing I'm missing...Firefox when booted up had my 3 favourite tabs there...I can't see to make Opera boot up with 3 tabs, only the one.

Is this possible and if so how obvious is it, because I've searched through the options and can't find a way of making 3 home pages so to speak...

    Thanks.

Oh and if anyone knows how I could find my Firefox bookmarks I'd be extremely grateful.

tried seperating the url's in your default homepage textbox with '|' characters?

thats how it is done in firefox..

maybe they are semicolons in opera or its simply not supported like that.

File->Sessions->Save this session. Check the "show these tabs and windows every time I start Opera" box. Should do the trick.

dasi should be right with the bookmarks - I've found that sometimes the PC version of Firefox doesn't quit properly, so if you then start it up again, it creates a new profile. Usually killing it via the task manager will have it open up with everything again. (or getting them out of that folder)

You may want to try Flock, especially if you use Flickr, Photobucket, or some sort of blogging service. It's essentially Firefox with a lot of great extras. (but it runs quicker!)

The best feature though, in my opinion, is del.icio.us integration. Basically, the bookmarks are sorted slightly differently (I didn't like it at first, but after a couple of days, I actually quite liked it) but they're automatically synchronized with the del.icio.us site, so they're always backed up, and you can access them from any computer by signing in.

Flock, the best team communication app and online collaboration platform, comes with team messaging, project management and other great features that improve productivity and boost speed of execution.

            Thanks for the help guys.

Firefox has definitely deleted all my bookmarks, how bizzarre. Not a trace!

The only problem with "save this session" is that it does exactly that, so that it always loads the pages in the state it was when I saved it...for example a news site would be the same as when I saved it, so I'd have to hit refresh on every page...

            Is there another way?

If they've completely disappeared, Firefox didn't do it. The worst it'll do is create a seperate profile and load it instead of your previous one.

It's possible that it's just a "bookmarks.html" rather than being in a seperate folder, but it'll definitely be in:

              C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\PROFILENAME\

Ah, I'm not sure then. I just have mine set to continue where I left off each time. You could press ctrl-F5 or ctrl-shift-R to reload all the open tabs, but there should be a way to have it do it automatically.

If you go to Tools > Preferences > Advanced > History

You could set the cache to 'Empty on exit', or set 'Check if cached page is updated on the server to' 'Always'

                  Think that would sort it.

It can be done by opening up the properties of the Opera shortcut you use to start opera, and in the target it should say :

                    "C:\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe"

then just add the extra webpages you want to open on startup in quotation marks.

                    example:
                    change from "C:\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe"

                    to this
                    "C:\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe" "NTSC-UK.com" "google.com"

this will open noth ntsc-uk and google in 2 different tabs, and also the homepage you defined in settings
