No, you will only be able to play asian and japanese Xbox games as well as region free titles.

Can anyone clarify if an Asian 360 will need a plug adapter? If so, can anyone provide a link to where I could buy one?

            Cheers.

Also, just want to make sure - will a Japanese Ridge Racer 6 work alright with an Asian console? I've read that the JP version of the game defaults to whatever language your console is set to so it shouldn't give me any language problems.

I wouldn't recommend it - the input of the 360 is over 300 watt so you might end up with a nice bit of melted plastic (which comes with a lovely burnt house surround to keep it in).

Splash a bit more cash and get something a bit more powerful - it'll also be future proof if you import a PS3 etc

i think when i get a 360 it will be the asian one , just cause you dont need a convertor , its cheaper and you get a component lead plus it wont be too long before you can mod it to play all regions

                  i was looking at these

anyone know much about the modchip 360 scene yet ?

                  Thanks

I've posted this picture taken from the back of the box my Japanese XBox 360 came in. I understand this to mean that typically it draws 116w (probably only when it's in the dashboard or playing a dvd) with a maximum draw of 254w (running XBox 360 games). A 300w stepdown should and does work fine, that's what I am currently using. If the draw were more than the stepdown could cope with it would just cutout, hopefully with no melted console.

Having said that for practicallity(my saturn, dreamcast, PS2 and NGC all need to access the same stepdown) and for peace of mind I will probably switch to a UK/Asian Xbox 360 power supply when I finally sort out my live account. Personally, I wouldn't go so far as to run any stepdown 24/7 365 days a year, but that's just me.

                      Wait, did I mean 200W or 300W?

                      I don't know anymore.

                      I think I meant 200W.

Sorry, my mistake - just pretend like I was never here

                        hi, great info here.

i was wondering if it's going to be any problem using an asian 360 on our dutch powerline, we are at 230 instead of the usual 220v's

and what site would be the cheapest to import to europe/holland to? yesasia, playasia, liksang? (it seems pa and ls even out in the end, but i don't know anything abou taxes etc..)

I think you should be okay with that, in the UK we are 240v. The Xbox 360's power block on the Asian probably has an accepted range of 220v~240v printed on the back of it to account for fluctuations of supply in that region from country to country.

I've only ever bought my consoles from Play-Asia and never had any problems with their service or shipping, the only downside is having to pay import and duty charges, but I'm okay with that.

YesAsia can bypass the import and duty charges but you'll have a longer wait for your consoles shipping. Having said that I have seen that a few board users who bought their 360's from Yesasia have had their shipping upgraded to a courier service. I think for first time users and also because of the high value of the item. You could then get hit for import and duty charges but Yesasia offer you store credit by way of reimbursement. (So you get you import and duty money back in a way, and you can use it to buy games and get tax free shipping on them as well).

Someone else will need to comment on Lik-sang as I have only ever bought a limited edition PS2 memory card from them.

But if you didnt pay import and duty charges would you get any compensation if the parcel went missing or was damaged?

One of the reasons why I think Yesasia have upgraded peoples shipping options. They would rather offer you the store credit if you do get charged import and duty. In effect paying your duty for you, and getting some more of your future business.

I like getting my games from Yesasia simply for the tax free option, usually get the games within 7 days as well. I just wish they carried as much variety for the XBox 360 as Play-Asia.

My JPN 360 from Yesasia was marked as under ?4
They upgrade the shipping for proof of delivery so they don't get stung by credit card or paypal chargebacks on expensive items.
