I just swapped my 1.5 PSP for and NTSC-J Xbox 360, good deal?

Anyway, seem pretty chuffed with myself anyway, but I now have a bit of a problem, purchasing games. I know there are some region free games etc, but are there any games that I CANNOT absolutely 100% play as I have a japanese console.

Also, any reccomendations for games? (I only got Kameo with it)

Is my best bet asain games...or do any Pal games work etc.

Just a bit of general advice.

Also, as another point, got a JPN psu with a MUTHA of a stepdown with it, is there a good place to buy a cheap UK psu, as it a bit on the bulky side?

    Cheers

Your best bet would be to flick through the pages of playasia, they have listings for each game of which regions they are compatible with.

A few pal games work such as condemned and DOA4

      http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-x...ity_guide.html

This is the direct link as mentioned by EvilBoris.

I think you made the right choice, I got my Japanese 360 last week and I am very pleased with it.

The majority of Asian games have dual language usually Chinese and English autodetected from your systems language settings. There are exceptions, Bullet Witch springs to mind as it's all in Japanese with no english subtitles, though I think the main options are in english and their maybe an English control guide.

As for price their is no comparison if your after new releases go for Asian titles they are around th ?25.00 mark.

I got a batch of Asian titles, Kameo, DOA4 and PGR3 from Ebay for ?14.00 each including p&p. Sadly the seller has no more games for sale, I will post if he does.

It's also apparent that a lot people on EBay are not aware of region free games (this board excepted), I had a real coup when I got my new & sealed US copy of Call Of Duty 2 (Game Of The Year Edition) for the princely sum of ?2.70!! (?5.20 including postage)

Dead Rising US works fine on a Japanese console just fine, this is the game that made me buy an XBox 360, glad I did.

Project Gotham Racing 3 and Ridge Racer 6 are both very solid performers and complement one another nicely.

Also worth looking at is Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, it's ?24.99 on play.com for the PAL version and I beleive it's region free. I got a sealed copy on the way from an Ebay seller, thought I had done well at ?24.00 including delivery only to see play.com doing this bank holiday deal.

As for a PSU they seem to be going for a lot of money on Ebay, if you need the machine in standby 24/7 then get one for peace of mind. If not stick with what you've got until demand settles then maybe pick one up for a better price. (That's my opinion and also my plan, unless of course i get Live set up and then I'll have to buy one now).

Anyway enjoy the console, look forward to fantastic games and keep an eye on that Play-Asia page and grab some bargains.

excellent post Neostuey, helps lots with my decisions

Now been checkin some other things I wiuld like to do.

Does anyone know if I can have multiple gamertags, say a USA and UK or even a JPN one?Is it just how I register it?

Also, does silver membership allow free live at weekends or is that just my mate babbling?

Also, about backwards compat, not the biggest deal, I have an xbox 1, but how do I go about playing Halo 2 on my JPN 360.Do I need a JPN copy?Sold my PAL copy long ago but wouldn't mind trying it in 480p !

Further to that, why is the coompatibilty update fro JPN consoles so bad? Can I just update using the NTSC or PAL updates or am I stuck?

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys.

          Thanks bootmonster.

As you know I haven't gone live with Xbox360 yet, as I'm still to sort out a broadband connection.

But in trying to find first play impressions of Zegapain I stumbled accross a post by Silvergun X who had downloaded the Japanese demo after creating a Japanese gamertag.

Heres a link to that post and also he links a site with further info.

As for live membership I am pretty sure that the gold membership is the only way to go, I can't remember the limitations of silver membership but I can't remember seeing anyone advocating it's use. And I seem to recall most people saying look for cheap Pal XBox games in places like Currys/PC World that contained a 12 month gold membership, Forza 2 is one such game I think. Others will surely be able to add to this as I have no personal experience of this yet, but i hope to soon.

BC - haven't tried this out yet either, like you I still have the original XBox hardware, but I guess that titles that were region locked before still are on the newer machine.

Yeah silver lets you download and stuff IIRC, but doesn't let you play games online.

And yep the backwards compatibility is region locked, Halo 2 PAL works on my japanese 360 though.

Ok, so does region coding not apply to original xbox games, or does it just mean I get live membership and can't play the game? (not specifically at you NeoStuey, I know you don't know much more than me about this, lol)

Cool, good to know, do all PAL games (included in compat list obviously) work on a JPN 360?

Also, do i need a credit card as well or can I just use live?

Sorry for all the questions but is nice to know before I start throwing money around.

It's my birthday on friday so there may be some excessive throwing!! lol

              cheers lads
